PennSERVE Grant Opportunities

PennSERVE provides funding to AmeriCorps programs across Pennsylvania that use national service as a tool to address local issues in key focus areas, including economic opportunity, education, disaster preparedness, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, and veterans and military families. Each of these programs uses AmeriCorps funding to recruit, place, and supervise AmeriCorps members to carry out service.

To be considered for funding, programs must submit an application to PennSERVE. Organizations must identify the need in their community, how AmeriCorps members are uniquely qualified to meet that need through the program design, and what performance measures the program will meet through its services.

Each year, PennSERVE has two grant competitions, called Competitive and Formula. Competitive applicants are selected through a national grant competition. Applications that are submitted for Formula grants compete for funds only at the state level.


2019 AmeriCorps Competitive Grants

PennSERVE’s Request For Applications (RFA) is available here. A Notice of Intent to Apply is required and is due by October 25 at 5:00 pm. Applications are due November 28 by 5:00 pm. Please review the RFA for submission requirements.


Grant timelines change annually. Specific deadlines for each grant cycle are included in PennSERVE’s Request For Applications (RFA).

Multi-State AmeriCorps Programs

An organization applying to operate an AmeriCorps program in more than one state must apply to CNCS directly. Programs that intend to operate in and outside of Pennsylvania must complete the Multi-State AmeriCorps Consultation Form through America’s Service Commissions. The consultation form must be complete prior to the CNCS application deadline. Please visit to complete your consultation form.

Technical Assistance

PennSERVE will host webinars to provide interested organizations with an overview of AmeriCorps and the grant opportunity. Webinars will be held as follows:

October 24, 2018 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

PennSERVE will also host an in-person technical assistance session on November 2, 2018. This session is not required, but strongly encouraged, particularly for new or recompeting grantees. Registration information will be made available to organizations that submit a Notice of Intent to apply by the deadline.
