The Collection Department at the State Workers’ Insurance Fund (SWIF) manages all outstanding balances owed to SWIF, oversees the Contractor Responsibility Program, and interacts with the Attorney General’s Office as part of the collection process.

SWIF is an enterprise fund of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with participation in the Contractor Responsibility Program (CRP). Any policy holder with previous debit owed to SWIF will be unable to receive a contract, grant or payments from the Commonwealth until all obligations are fulfilled.

To better serve our customers, the Department of Labor & Industry now offers the ability to make payment/s on your account/s through the Collections Department online. Use your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express card to make a payment on the department’s convenient and secure online payment site.

Please note the following:

  • Credit card payments are not accepted on active policies; only policies that are cancelled or non-renewed are eligible.
  • A $20.00 convenience fee will be charged to cover the department’s administrative costs. The amount of the convenience fee will be displayed when you enter your payment amount and credit card type before payment is finalized. This charge is non-refundable.
  • Please allow up to 3 business days for online payments to be reflected on your account balance. Please have the following information on hand when you are ready to make your payment:
    • FEIN number
    • Policy number
    • Credit card: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are accepted.
    • Credit card billing address
    • The credit card’s security code and expiration date
  • Before making payments on a large balance, please alert your credit card company to avoid getting a decline error.
  • SWIF does not accept international credit cards.

*Please note that credit card information will not be saved or stored. Once the transaction has been processed and completed, all personal information is discarded.

  • When making a payment by mail, please send a cashier’s check, certified check, or money order. Please do not send cash. The department is not responsible for cash that is not received.

  • Checks or money orders should be made payable to: State Workers’ Insurance Fund

  • To ensure prompt processing of your payment, please include your policy number on any payments submitted.
