Richard H. Lansburgh

Richard H. Lansburgh was born in Washington, D.C. on September 26, 1893. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1915; and a Master of Arts degree in 1916. He was an instructor from 1915-1917, an Assistant Professor from 1919-1921, and a Professor of Industry at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
 
His military career includes service as a First Lieutenant, Captain, and Major in the U.S. Army Ordinance Department from 1917-1919. He was a consultant in manufacturing management problems since 1919. He is author of "Industrial Management" published in 1923, and numerous magazine articles.
 
He was appointed Secretary of the Department of Labor and Industry by Governor Gifford Pinchot on October 16, 1924.
