Charles J. Lieberth

Charles J. Lieberth was born on June 21, 1922. He received Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950 and 1955. He was in the U.S. Parachute Troops.
 
Over the years he was an educator, lecturer, consultant and government administrator. From 1970-77, Lieberth was HUD director; from 1977-79 he was a U.S. Senate staffer. In 1974 he received the Pennsylvania Man of the Year award. He received the HUD "Certificate of Merit" in 1972 and "Distinguished Service Award" in 1975.
 
He was appointed executive director of the State Public School Building Authority and PA Higher Educational Facilities Authority on June 21, 1979. Five months later he was appointed Secretary of the Department of Labor and Industry.
