​Recruitment, Hiring and Use of Bilingual Staff

1. Identification of Need for Bilingual Positions
 
The Department of Labor and Industry's Bureau of Human Resources must coordinate with managers and administrators to ensure that the recruitment of bilingual staff takes place in a reasonable time frame.

A. Managers and administrators must ensure that specific positions in central and field offices have been identified as being bilingual in the language(s) considered "essential" for the hiring office. "Identification of "Essential Languages" and Office Serving "Significant LEP Populations". Once the positions are identified, the bilingual requirement will be made a qualification for filling future openings of these positions.

B. The Department's Bureau of Human Resources in coordination with the Office of Equal Opportunity will assist managers in the recruitment of designated bilingual positions.
