Is the Department still accepting LPG applications and performing plan reviews?

The Department is accepting applications electronically at boilers@pa.gov. Once an electronic copy is submitted, please mail a paper copy with a check made payable to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to cover the appropriate fee.

Yes, as of May 1, 2020, all construction activities were permitted to restart in accordance with the April 23rd construction guidance found here. As a result, all inspections services resumed. Please contact the Boiler Division at its Resource Account boilers@pa.gov to schedule an inspection.

Yes, the Department is accepting these requests electronically. Digital submission of the required application and supporting documentation may be submitted to the following monitored resource account: boilers@pa.gov. Once an electronic copy is submitted, please mail a paper copy with a check made payable to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to cover the appropriate fee.

Have any regulations relating to flammable and combustible liquids or compressed natural gas installations been suspended?

Yes, the following timeframes are suspended for the duration of the Governor's disaster declaration:

  • The timeframe for the Department to submit applications to operate or expand LPG facilities in excess of 400,000 gallons for publication in the Pennsylvania Bulletin.

  • The timeframes for the Department to approve or disapprove applications.

  • The deadline for a hearing officer to issue a decision.

  • The deadline for the industrial board to issue a decision.

Is the Industrial Board conducting hearings for variances and extensions of time?

Yes, the Industrial Board is holding hearings. If the building remains inaccessible at the time of the hearing, the meeting will be held by telephone, with all pertinent information being provided for full participation of all affected parties. This information will be posted on our website.
