Experience the Employment Connection
Driven by the Governor’s Executive Order and the Employment First Act, the Experience the Employment Connection (EEC) initiative strives to increase competitive, integrated employment for Pennsylvanians with disabilities through a statewide, interagency staff training approach.
This joint-training initiative under the Departments of Labor & Industry (L&I), Human Services (DHS), and Education (PDE) targets interagency staff working for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), Office of Developmental Programs (ODP, including intellectual disability and autism services), Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS), and the Bureau of Special Education (BSE). As EEC continues to expand, additional partners are welcomed.
Regional sessions were held in 2016 and 2017, successfully impacting between 1,000 and 1,700 professionals each project year. In-person sessions of EEC are on a brief hiatus for 2018, aiming to return in 2019.
